A New Leaf

Let's see. I've been online now for well over a year, and received a whopping 1 comment for any of my articles. The "Hmmm" factor is going gangbusters here. Considering that most of my posts have been political in nature, and considering that I obviously cannot write a well thought out political piece, I'd say that's a wrap. End of story. Full stop. Think I'll simply point people towards others, such as Mike the Marine and Blackfive (for military discussions) and Skippys List (for humor).Instead, I think I'll concentrate on technical discussions, primarily concerning Freemat and its many uses.
UPDATE: Okay, so I can't read a calendar. I've actually had this blog since November 2005. That means that I've been here for almost *3* years, with only one comment to show for it. One.
Sigh.

Hey man, great site! I'm glad things are changing for you and everything's great. Keep it up!!

Make that two! Skippy wrote an article pointing to your blog, think I'll look into it, just to see what you have to say and maybe comment some more.

Sorry for the double post, but you might want to see about making posting easier, maybe integrate it into the page. Just a suggestion, don't have to approve this one.

make that 2

I'm going to say that you probably need to write more entries. You've been around nearly three years, but you only total in at 30 entries. Most blogs have a bunch of entries before their target audience discovers them (more content equals more opportunity to be discovered via search engines). Once a handful of people find them, word gets around, and soon it's a popular blog with the community it's being written for. It just takes patience. :)

Good luck!

Need better advertising. For example, I had never heard of you until Skippy mentioned your blog in HIS blog just an hour ago (according to my rss feed), where he asked all his readers to leave a comment for you. So now, unless I get beat out, you will soon have two comments, hopefully with the promise of a lot more, because you got free publicity from what looks like an actual fan.

My next task: actually read your articles...

Skippy told me to leave a comment so I am; Hi!

Be careful what you wish for. I'd wager you're about to get a deluge.

Two!

Skippy told me to leave a comment, so umm yeah, I would give up or start a new blog.

Can you tell me how long I should roast a 15lb turkey for?

Well now. What have we here? Here's a new comment letting you know you aren't alone. And I have a feeling that you are going to be seeing more and more comments. Just make sure you are google searchable. Cheers!

And now you have two!

Keep on trucking. I've had a blog for about 5 years now and have only had a few comments. Keep in there.

Oh, and by the way. Turn off owner approval for your comments. You can always go back and delete any offensive/spam comments later.

The Internet can be a big, empty, lonely place.

Sorry to have missed your writing. I'm not in the habit of leaving comments, even when thoroughly engaged. You are now on my watch list... and be sure you will get good and bad feedback... and by bad, I mean mocking as deserved ;-)

BTW, thank skippy for getting this one....

I just heard about your site from "Skippy's List". I was not aware that Russia was deploying SS-21s in Georgia. Thanks for the info. Keep up the good work.

Intriguing ideas, but your infrequency of posting doesn't give you much of a fan-base to build to. Try updaing more than once a month, and focusing your issues.

Anonymous said...

comments galore are headed your way courtesy of skippys list.

bow your head in reverence when you pass the beloved leader...

Keep on truckin

So I think you ought to keep going! I've been reading off and on for the better part of the last several months- but I'm a lurker, rather than a poster.

Anonymous said...

that means you just suck at what your typing

One... Is the loneliest number.....

Twooooooo can be as bad as one.

^_^ Thank Skippy.

Turn off comment approval then :P

Lots of people go to leave one, see that note, then just say "Fuck it". Its not worth the effort to check if someone actually gave a crap enough to post what you wanted to.

Also, if you made a few cracks now and then it would help. Spice it up :P

Political blog or not, it doesnt ALL have to be political.

If it makes you feel any better at all, the only person who comments on my blog is my father. :) but don't be depressed - with all the silly teenagers blogging there silly thoughts every single day, lots of people fall through the cracks.

can you point to the article that got this one comment?

If all your doing is shooting for comments then no one will really comment. If the peace relates to someone then they leave comments. The thing is that you have to keep the passion for writing no matter who comments or does not.

Came from Skippy's site.
My comment is post more than once a quarter and maybe the readers will come and some might even comment.

I wish you would keep writing because this will allow you to discuss many different topics. I hope you could use this blog to post your observations of life and your day to day affairs. I hate seeing a blog I read dissapear forever because the writer didn't think they were being listened too. Rember this, in the internet many people will look, but few will comment.

Have you advertised your blog?

Unless you have something exceptional out of the literally millions of blogs out there, you need to get the word out! Put your blog in your forum signatures, comment on other blogs, etc.

You've been fortunate that a nice man known as Skippy noticed your efforts and sent his reader base your way. (Surprise!) I'll personally be reading through the blog and commenting on issues relevant to me, even if just to voice my opinion on them. :D

Anonymous said...

I had never seen your blog until today, when Skippy's List linked to it. And the first post I see is of you saying that you have never had a post. So, this is a pity post. Sorry... but a post is a post, right?

Actually, your thoughts are insightful and interesting and a bit all over the place. I have bookmarked your site though. I will check back later.

MezzoCO said...

. . . but if you think about it, you really *do* only have 31 posts total. You just need to blog MORE and then you'll have more comments!

(ps: was routed here from Skippy's list...) :)

But I love you.

Just one? That's not right....

Make that two. Keep on truckin buddy.

Anonymous said...

Soooooooo... yay for comments!!!!

and to cook a 15 lb turkey would take varying amount of times depending on whether or not it was prefrozen, brined first, the cooking method, and many other factors. Let's just say 3/4 an hour submerged in 350F peanut oil should do the trick. (after a good brine session)
