I've had problems with Paperport 11 freezing up (not responding, crashing, whatever). Turns out that my problem is that the thumbnail files (which Paperport names "PP11Thumbs.ptn" and "PP11Thumbs.ptn2") were corrupted. I exited out of Paperport (it was not responding anyway), went into the directory where those files were stored, and deleted them both.
All that does is, when Paperport 11 starts up and you go into that directory, it will take a few extra seconds while it rebuilds the thumbnails. However, it won't freeze up anymore after that.
I have to agree with the many people who are very unhappy with the fact that the program crashes, but this is a work-around until Nuance fixes the problem. If that ever happens.

That work around worked for about 5 minutes and then then paperport locked up again....
Ditto. And don't feel that spending money on PP12 will solve the problem. I tried. It doesn't.
Thanks for this... finally got a new install up and going.
I've been frustrated with this program slowly going downhill and finally stopping and starting by itself and messing up my network connections.
This solved the problem!! Thanks.
Hoping for a Nuance resolution.
Waiting for a Nuance resolution is like waiting for Godot. Sadly, I tried PP12 also; system freezes everytime I try to move a file or rename one, making it VERY worthless.
Great work, Nuance. Which nust mean "doesn't give a damn about customers" in French.
Nuance customer supoort is the worst. Ok, second worse. I spend more time trying to get paperport to work than I spend working. Almost worthless.
